Course Closed

Over the last couple of weeks the course has received in the vicinity of 300ml of rain.

The rainfall on Thursday evening and Friday has flooded the course and therefore the course is unable to be opened over the weekend. Members are advised the draw for next Saturday will still go ahead this evening

Temporary 11th hole and 12th tee

For those of you who have played our rain sodden course in the last week or so you would note that initial works on the 11th hole have begun. These works involve relocating the 11th green approximately 20 metres forward and are required to be carried out by June 30th as a legal requirement relating to the sale of the old clubhouse and car park. The club has also taken this opportunity to rebuild the 12th tees. The new 12th tees will be approximately twice the size as previous and have been built to USGA specifications. It is anticipated that once the rain stops next week these works shall continue and we will be still on track to meet the June 30th deadline.

Currently the temporary 11th green is at the bottom of the hill on the 11th fairway however once the Course re opens the 11th hole will be played as a par 3 from the new 1st tees to the practice chipping green. This hole will be played prior to playing the 1st hole however will still be marked on the card as the 11th. Therefore on completion of the 10th hole players will walk directly to the temporary 12th tees located at the base of the hill on the 12th. Players wishing to place a halfway order with the kitchen (Competition days only) may do so from the intercom on 11th tee.

An area on the 11th fairway will be allocated for practice chipping and pitching during this time.

The Ladies Bayview Cup

The Bayview Cup was played under extreme conditions this year, we had over 30 girls booked but only 16 braved it. They were well rewarded, although it was very wet under foot, the girls said they expected worse, so well done to all who participated. Some fine scores come in regardless, but the outstanding score on the day was Carol McLeod with an 87 off the stick and a 69 Nett – WOW a fantastic effort, well done Carol. It was also great to see all of the girls stayed to congratulate Carol and have a little drink to celebrate. Hopefully next year the weather will be better and more weekend ladies will play for the prestigious trophy.

2010 Mission Hills Invitational Golf Tournament in China

Bayview was well represented at the 2010 Mission Hills Invitational Golf Tournament in China. The Bayview contingent consisted of Glenn Brown, Ian Felton, Ray Brown & Glenn McCluskey. While there was no Best Dressed Competition, the program had to be altered due to the diligent efforts from the Bayview Boys on Tour!! Each day Glenn, Ian, Ray and Glenn McCluskey(who was a ring in, Glenn came from Melbourne as a friend of the boys), dressed in matching outrageous shorts and shirts. We all waited with baited breath to see what the boys would come down to breakfast wearing. The little Chinese caddies were amazed by these HAPPY OZZIE BLOKES one of which was referred to as Hollywood, which might give you some indication of the impact of the famous four.

Ian Felton did star on the golf course with his amazing 42 points but the fame of this group was definitely with their attire. Just in case you don't get the picture we have attached some photos. It was an amazing trip and if any of you ever have the opportunity to go to Mission Hills don't miss it. It is a golfing trip of a lifetime. The tournament was organised by Leading Edge Tours and can be booked I believe through Rod Brown. Barry See Hoe (President of Cromer Golf Club) and his son Darren, my husband David & I where the winners of the 4 day tournament, which was a great surprise and thrill.

We will be going back next year to defend our title 60 Golfers from all over Australia came to play and all agreed it was a great adventure.
